The IARTEM19 PHD-day

The IARTEM 2019 conference invites PHD-students to submit to the IARTEM19 PHD-day.

Deadline for submission is 1 June 2019.

Aims of the IARTEM19 PHD-day:

  • To support and strengthen the emergence and development of a community of young researchers within the IARTEM community.
  • To establish a network of students working within the field of educational resources and media worldwide.
  • To discuss and develop on ph.d.-students’ ideas.
  • To support ph.d.-students in solving problems and challenges they meet in their project and thesis.

How to enroll in the PHD-day:

If you want to enroll in the ph.d.-day please do the following:

Submit by 1 june 2019:

1) 1500-word (3-pages) synthesis of your thesis research, including references (references are not included in the 1500 words). State also in the synthesis if you have specific questions or parts you want the participants to comment on or describe one or more questions that are troubling you and that you would like to discuss with the other participants in the ph.d.-course.

2) A shared problem for the IARTEM community of 25 to 250 words maximum: this shared problem can be centered, for example, on the theme(s) of the symposium or on research relating to the media and educational resources in a more general way, in relation to the doctoral students’ research objects, their methodologies, their fields, etc. The shared problem should include an argument concerning why this is important for the IARTEM community and the study of educational media.

3) A short text (10 to 15 lines) where you state how many months you have been a phd-student and your background.

A submission including these 3 parts should be mailed to rbc@pha.dk no later than 1 June 2019. Based on the contributions a program will be send out in due time before the conference. Resources are also send to the participants and are expected to be read in advance of the day.

Presentation of the participants

09.30 – 12.00
Group sessions (scaffolded by an experienced researcher). Students and researchers comment on the submissions. Groups are formed according to subject/field of research and taken into account how long time the projects have run.

12.00-13.00 PHD-lunch for all participants

13.00-15.00
Shared ideas. A group of researchers facilitate a discussion amongst the participants after reading and synthesizing across the shared problems (new groups are formated for this part). A resumé of the discussions will be shared through Google docs to be used in your future work.

15.00-15.30: Thank you for participating and “what am I taking home from the day”.
